Kalyana Venkattaramasami Temple
Located at a distance of 5 km, Kalyana Venkattaramasami temple is one of the popular religious sites in the region. The temple is dedicated to Lord Srinivasa (Vishnu) and is located on the top of a hillock. Lord Vishnu and his consorts Goddesses Sri Devi and Bhoomi Devi are worshiped as the main deities of the temple in the sanctum sanctorum. Deepam Festival, celebrated during September – October, is regarded as one of the major celebrations. Purattasi Festival and the Masi Maha Car Festival are also major celebrations that are celebrated for 22 days.
Pasupathieswarer Temple
Pasupathieswarer Temple is one of the oldest temples in the region that dates back to the Chola dynasty. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. The temple is also popular as the one of the seven Sivalayams/Sivasthalams (sacred abodes of Lord Shiva) in Tamil Nadu. The 5 ft high Pasupathieswarer Linga is one of the major attracting features of the temple.
Sri Mariamman Temple
Located in the heart of Karur, the temple is the 2nd largest in Tamil Nadu. The annual festival celebrated in the month of May is considered very auspicious. As the proceeding of the festival, ‘Kumbam’ is brought out of the temple and is carried to Arkavathi River. Huge procession accompanies the proceeding. With due respect, this Kumbam is lowered to the river bed.
